Live permanently in regional Australia
The Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa is designed for individuals who have lived and worked in designated regional areas of Australia on an eligible visa. This visa allows you to settle in Australia permanently and bring your family along.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Hold an eligible visa (subclass 491 or 494)
- Must have held the visa for at least 3 years
- Demonstrate taxable income at or above the specified threshold for those 3 years
- Must have followed all conditions of your eligible visa
With this visa, you can:
- Stay in Australia permanently
- Work and study freely
- Enrol in Medicare (Australia’s public health system)
- Sponsor eligible relatives
- Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
- Apply for Australian citizenship (if eligible)
Duration of Stay
This is a permanent visa, allowing indefinite stay in Australia. However, the travel facility is valid for 5 years from the date of visa grant. To travel after this period, you’ll need a Resident Return Visa.
Include Family
You can include family members in your application:
- When submitting your visa application, or
- After submission but before the visa decision
If you’ve had a child born in Australia after your current visa was granted, inform the Department before lodging this application.
