Germany Skilled Immigration Points Calculator
The Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte), introduced in June 2024 , largely replaced the traditional Job Seeker Visa for many non-EU professionals. This visa follows a points-based immigration system that allows skilled workers to move to Germany and search for employment.
With the Opportunity Card:
- Candidates can stay in Germany for up to 12 months to search for a job
- Applicants are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during their job search
- This is an improvement over the earlier Job Seeker Visa, which allowed no work during the six-month stay

- Recognized Qualification: A recognized university degree or at least three years of relevant professional experience in IT that is equivalent to a degree .
- Valid Job Offer: A confirmed job offer from a German employer that matches your qualifications and professional experience.
- Minimum Salary Requirement (2025):
- €45,552 per year for most occupations.
- €43,759.80 per year for shortage occupations such as IT, engineering, and medical professionals.
- Employment Contract: The job contract must be valid for at least six months and correspond to the applicant’s qualifications.
The EU Blue Card offers several benefits, including the possibility of obtaining permanent residence in Germany after a certain period and easier mobility within the European Union for skilled professionals.
