Germany Skilled Immigration Points Calculator

The Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte), introduced in June 2024 , largely replaced the traditional Job Seeker Visa for many non-EU professionals. This visa follows a points-based immigration system that allows skilled workers to move to Germany and search for employment.

With the Opportunity Card:

  • Candidates can stay in Germany for up to 12 months to search for a job
  • Applicants are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during their job search
  • This is an improvement over the earlier Job Seeker Visa, which allowed no work during the six-month stay

Professionals with the required skills and qualifications can relocate to Germany, attend in-person interviews, and secure employment opportunities.

After Getting a Job in Germany

Once a candidate secures employment in Germany with an Opportunity Card, they must apply for an employment residence permit. This can be done through:

  • EU Blue Card
  • Employment Residence Permit

  • Valid Job Offer: A confirmed job offer from a German employer that matches your qualifications and professional experience.
